Myocardial infarction after coronary revascularization: role of cardiovascular magnetic resonance oedema imaging.

چکیده
We find the recent study by Abdel-Aty et al. [1] very interesting and we thank them for their comment. In our study [2], we applied strict criteria in order to exclude patients with previous myocardial infarctions. The finding that the higher the biochemical marker level the greater the amount of infarcted tissue, supported our assumption of a causal connection between peri-operative myocardial infarction and post-operative elevation of biochemical markers. However, contrastenhanced magnetic resonance imaging may distinguish between viable and nonviable regions throughout infarct healing [3], but does not differentiate between acute and chronic infarction [4]. Since not all patients with previous infarctions have a history of myocardial infarction or evidence of infarction on the ECG, echocardiography or ventriculography, we believe that the newly described imaging approach [1] may be a valuable contribution for the future assessment of patients with elevated cardiac markers after coronary revascularization.

متن کاملPrediction of regional functional recovery after acute myocardial infarction with low dose dobutamine stress cine MR imaging and contrast enhanced MR imaging.
PURPOSE Previous studies demonstrated that low-dose dobutamine stress cine magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and delayed contrast-enhanced MRI can provide assessments of myocardial viability. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the comparative diagnostic values of dobutamine cine MRI and delayed contrast-enhanced MRI for predicting functional recovery of myocardial contraction in patients ...
متن کاملHow we perform delayed enhancement imaging.
Recently, numerous studies have demonstrated the effectiveness of a segmented inversion recovery fast gradient echo (seg IR-FGE) sequence for differentiating injured from normal myocardium. This technique for delayed enhancement imaging has been shown to be effective in identifying the presence and extent of myocardial infarction, as well as predicting improvement in contractile function after ...
متن کاملIdentification of High-Risk Patients After ST-Segment-Elevation Myocardial Infarction: Comparison Between Angiographic and Magnetic Resonance Parameters.
BACKGROUND The incidence of angiographic no reflow (NR) and microvascular obstruction (MVO) at cardiac magnetic resonance is significantly different. The aim of this study was to investigate the occurrence of NR and MVO in a cohort of consecutive patients with ST-segment-elevation myocardial infarction treated with primary percutaneous coronary interventions. METHODS AND RESULTS In this prosp...
متن کاملComparison between magnetic resonance imaging and single-photon emission tomography for the assessment of myocardial salvage after coronary revascularization in acute myocardial infarction
Background Myocardial salvage is an important surrogate endpoint assessing the success of coronary reperfusion in acute myocardial infarction. Single photon emission computed tomography (SPECT), the established modality for assessment of myocardial salvage, is logistically demanding and associated with a considerable radiation exposure. The combination of T2 and late-enhancement imaging in card...
